A Digital Downside: Cyberbullying

In the old days, the mean kid at school would rough up people on the playground or shove them out of the way at the water fountain.

But the advent of technology has brought with it the person who harasses classmates on social media or hacks into their online accounts. As the digital world continues to expand, both in school and out, the risk of cyberbullying will likely expand as well.

Combating this harmful online behavior promises to be a challenge for the school of the future. In the film above, see what educators and parents in the Kansas City area are doing to protect kids from cyberbullying.

Take Note is Kansas City PBS’s multi-year education reporting project. In this season, we are examining all aspects of the school of the future. Keep an eye on the website and join the conversation at #TakeNoteKC.
