Here at Flatland, we don’t just love beer. We love great beer. And we had so much great, local beer in 2019 that we wanted to feature beers that transported our taste buds to Beer Valhalla for this week’s Tap List.

If you want to revisit some of your favorite local beers of 2019, and check out some Kansas City born and bred indie rock while you’re at it, then head over to Taps on Main, 1715 Main St. in Kansas City, this Friday. Camp will be playing a live set starting at 8PM.

Best Tap Notes

I know I raved about this beer just last week, but KC Bier Co.’s Dunkelbock Dark Doppelbock Lager (ABV 10%, 25 IBU) is truly amazing. This full-bodied bock has notes of dark chocolate, pecans and raisins. Sprint over to KC Bier Co.’s Bierhalle and pick up a six-pack while you still have time!

Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Dark Truth Imperial Stout is a choice holiday beverage, clocking in at around 9.7% ABV (60 IBU). This stout has strong notes of toasted marshmallow, maple syrup and espresso. This beer pairs perfectly with holiday pie!

Crane Brewing’s Township 49 (7.8% ABV) is a barrel-aged, spontaneously fermented wild ale with strong notes of sour apple and bubblegum. Definitely include this ale in your holiday beer rotation!

Fields and Ivy Brewery’s Breezedale Hazy IPA (7.3% ABV, 45 IBU) is in many ways the perfect hazy IPA. This beer is hoppy in a way that doesn’t drown out other flavor profiles. This beer has strong hoppy notes, with grapefruit and kiwi on the back end.

Last but not least, Torn Label Brewing Co.’s Dubbel, Dubbel Toil and Trouble classic Belgian dubbel is a solid choice for ringing in the New Year. This bold Belgian brew clocks in at about 7.5% ABV,  and has notes of caramel, butterscotch and raisin on the front end, with notes of barley on the finish.
