Connected, Collaborative, Personalized: Hear KC’s Ideas for the School of the Future

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation recently hosted the Rethink Ed conference in Kansas City, a gathering that drew more than 300 attendees from throughout the region, including business leaders, educators, and high school students.

The central question of the conference was this: “What are the skills, abilities, and mindset high school students need before graduation to be successful in our current and evolving future workforce?”

During the 1-day conference at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the Take Note team asked attendees to describe the school of the future. We heard from students, teachers, administrators and innovators in education, and one thing was clear — There are no shortages of ideas for what the school of the future will be.

Keep an eye on Flatland for more reporting, videos and public engagement — like when our Take Note team talks to students and parents at Maker Faire Kansas City, which runs June 23-24 at Union Station — and follow the project on social channels through #TakeNoteKC.
